That being said, there are certain metrics that you need to keep an eye out for because they are the ones that will influence search engine optimization on your website. If, after seeing some of these metrics, you find that you lag behind, then you can certainly do some things about it.
Here are some user engagement metrics that do have an impact when it comes to your site’s SEO marketing.
This metric just tells how long a person stays on your website. For instance, if you write about the most popular graphics cards of 2018 and you make a compelling article highlighting why these cards are a cut above the rest, then they will most likely take their time and consume your content.
If your articles are of considerable length and they are either engaging or informative, then you pretty much have something that people would want to spend time on.
Just remember that Google and other popular search engines use this metric on a “page-by-page” basis, so make sure that you make content on the regular and make it compelling and engaging at the same time.
This is just when a person clicks on a certain link. To make people do so, you have to use headlines that grab their attention like, “hey, notice me!”. Also, utilize meta descriptions to your advantage as well.
Just remember that both your title and your meta descriptions should be engaging and at least somewhat informative as well. Do not just make titles or descriptions just to lure them in but you’re not offering things that are of value.
This metric talks about people visiting your website more than once. Again, this all boils down to what you have to offer. If you sell products that are of good quality or you put out informative articles that no other website does, then your site visitors will most likely return.
Allow Your Visitors to Leave Comments
Though not entirely a metric, it is still used as a means for search engines to rank your website higher or lower depending on if you implement this or not.
Allowing your site visitors to read through your content and giving them the freedom to leave comments is essential nowadays because this just tells search engines that your site is indeed engaging and interactive.
Make content that will give people a reason to comment about your piece. Ask questions starting with “what do you think…” or “which of these…” and so on.
If you’re worried that people will leave spam comments, do not worry. There are certain plugins that you can use to solve the problem.
If People Share Your Content on Social Media
If the search engine bots find out that your website is commonly being linked on different social media platforms, then it will rank you higher thanks to what is known as the “Social Signal”.
Essentially, what this means is that people are talking, or at least, promoting your content with their friends and peers. Create something that will elicit such a response.
